dr. Shawn Ricks
Helping You Achieve your best
Dr. Ricks has been an invited speaker and facilitator in the areas of diversity, equity and social justice for numerous non-profit agencies. Her research interests include the psychosocial development of Black women in the academy, raising Black children in “post-racial” America, black women and addictions, and navigating "tight spaces."
"Dr. Ricks presented a continuing education workshop, “Psychological Tight Spaces: African American Women and Mental Health,” to the NC State University Counseling Center recently.
I must say that Dr. Ricks is by far one of the very best presenters that we have had here, and that is for the last 13 years since we have been providing CE's. Dr. Ricks has a rare ability to share knowledge in a way that keeps the participants actively engaged and wanting her to come back.

I have been so impressed with the trainings provided by Shawn Ricks. When working with our staff on Cultural Diversity Dr. Ricks handles the topic in a way that is interesting and helps staff understand the topic better. I have only received positive comments concerning her trainings and that says a lot when you have 100 staff.
She is a dynamic speaker. Her presentation style is fun, energetic and uplifting and leaves those who attend feeling inspired to try new things or see things from a different perspective.
Dr. Ricks is the founder and principal trainer of ASE Leadership Institute which focuses on the growth and development of women and girls. Ase is a Yoruba word loosely translated to mean "life force" or energy. It has also been defined as "the power to make things happen." At ASE Leadership Institute we believe all children have within them the power they need to make things happen. We offer enrichment programs, leadership classes, single sex empowerment programs, financial literacy programs and rites of passage programs.

The ASE Leadership Institute for Girls is a 6-week program designed to expose girls ages 10-13 to core leadership skills. At program completion, girls will be able to use the tools and training to "make things happen" and successfully navigate their world. The ASE Leadership Institute's intensive leadership training is an ideal opportunity for girls who are emerging leaders and girls who have yet to develop their full leadership potential.
